Introduction

Birthday Boy is a Today Screen plugin which will scan your Contacts database and display any contacts with an anniversary or birthday which falls within a specified scanning period. Birthday Boy is produced by Gigabyte Solutions Ltd.

Enabling Birthday Boy

Once Birthday Boy is installed, you need to either 'Soft Reset' your PocketPC or go into the Today Screen options to enable it.

To enter the Today screen settings, go into Start / Settings / Today / Items. Ensure Birthday Boy is checked, then close the window.

Usage

Change options

To change any options, such as the look ahead period, click the balloon or the top line of the Birthday Boy display.

Options that can be changed include:

• Look ahead - 1 day to 1 year (1 week in evaluation version)
• Number of event lines to display on Today Screen.
• Date format, where:-
  • ddd = Day name (eg. Monday)
  • dd = Day number (eg. 12)
  • mm = Month number (eg. 03)
  • mmm = Month name (eg. March)
• Show Age or Anniversary number

View Help File (this)

To view the help file, enter the Options screen as described above, then click the [Help] Button.

Change viewing date

To change the viewing date, click the clock or the word 'Viewing' on the second line of the Birthday Boy display. To reset the view to the current day, click the clock again and select the 'Today' button.

Change page number

If more events are found than will fit on the display, the 'Page' icons will appear and allow you to navigate forward and backwards through all events found.

Edit / view a contact

If you want to change or view any of the contacts displayed, click the contact in the main Birthday Boy view window and the normal contact details will be displayed for editing.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

Q1. How do I display the version of Birthday Boy I am using?

A1. Enter the 'Options' screen as described above, then click the 'About' button.

Q2. Why is Birthday Boy not showing Birthdays that I have entered?

A2. Birthday Boy is designed to display the dates present on people in your 'Contacts' database. If you enter them into your 'Calendar' application, they will not be detected by Birthday Boy. This is by design.

Q3. Can I used one contact for multiple people (such as a family).

A3. You can, but because only one Birthday can be entered, only one will be displayed. You should create a separate contact for every person.

Q4. Why does the Age or Anniversary number show incorrectly?

A4. Ensure you enter the date of birth or start of the anniversary number or BirthdayBoy will not be able to calculate the year number.
