Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) You will find answers to the most common questions our support department receives in the sections below. If these don't answer your particular query then please use our Support Page to log a new request. FlashDash Questions Q1. Can FlashDash also display Animated Today themes? A1. Yes Q2. So, why would I ever need Animated Today? A2. Animated Today is much faster at displaying complex animations since it does not also need to recreate all the Today functionality Q3. Can Animated Today and FlashDash be installed at the same time? A3. Yes and extra options will appear in FlashDash to manage the interaction when this happens. You could tell FlashDash not to display the animations and let Animated Today handle it. Q4. What is the difference between FlashDash themes and Animated Today themes? A4. FlashDash themes can be full screen since they appear underneath the newly created Today screen. Animated Today themes can only be a maximum size of 200 pixels. Q5. How do I create FlashDash themes? A5. Create them using the same Animated Theme Injector as used with Animated Today, but specify the theme size as 'full screen'. Animated Today Questions Q1. What devices does Animated Today work on? A1. Animated Today will work with any PPC2002 / 2003, 2003SE or Windows Mobile 5 device. It requires a device with 32mb of RAM or more. You must also install the Macromedia Flash 6 player available from here. Q2. When I switch the device off then back on again, Animated Today stops animating. A2. Go into the About screen by click the Animated Today icon, then check 'Disable Power Saving'. Not all devices properly send Power notifications and so cannot support this advanced feature. Q3. I purchased Animated Today 3 from you, but I have not received my registration code? A3. Registration codes are mailed out automatically when we received order notifications from our distributors. If you haven't received yours after 24 hours then visit our Registration Request page. Q4. I have installed Animated Today but when I load a Animated Theme I see the background image but get a white box where the animation should be. A4. Ensure you are using verion 3.040415 of Animated Today or later and that you have installed the Flash 6 player correctly. Previous versions could cause problems with caching on a few devices which would appear like this. To check the version, click the blue AT3 icon on the Today screen and select the About tab. Q5. I have installed version 3.040415 as directed above but still get the white box. Also there is no blue AT3 icon showing in the bottom right of the Today screen. A5. This problem is caused by a corrupt rsabase.dll on your Pocket PC. Because this file is used for access to secure information on the device, Microsoft protects it by placing a digital signature for it in ROM. If it is overwritten with a different version by an old install program then the PPC refuses to load it. Animated Today requires this file to decrypt themes and check your registration code. The only known solution to this issue is a hard reset which will lose all data and then a reinstall of Flash 6 and Animated Today. Q6. When I try to load xxx Animated Theme which I have downloaded, it reports that the theme requires FlashDash to load. What is that? A6. Animated Today can only display themes upto 200 pixels in height. This is because it shares the Today screen with other plug-ins and nasty scroll bars appear if the theme is too high. FlashDash is a new product soon to be released by Gigabyte Solutions which completely recreates the Today screen and allows themes of any height. Q7. I get a nasty scroll bar down the right hand side of the animation. Why? A7. Animated Today is a Today plug-in just like any other and has to share the screen with any other Today plug-ins you have enabled. Most theme designers arrange a theme so it displays correctly with around 3 to 4 standard plug-ins loaded. If you have more than that then there will not be enough room to display the Animation without the scroll bar appearing. Q8. I installed the trial version of Animated Today but it immediately expired? A8. This can occur if the date and time do not match between your PC and PPC during installation. Simply remove AT3 from the device and install again. Q9. Where can I download more Animated Themes? A9. Take a look at the Animated Themes page for a list of sites containing more Animated Today themes. BirthdayBoy Questions Q1. What is the difference between BirthdayBoy Today and BirthdatBoy Dashboard? A1. BirthdayBoy Today works on any device, whereas BirthdayBoy Dashboard requires a device with Snoopsoft Dashboard installed.
